Description:
After the idea of The Mansions of the Gods, René and Albert return with the one of spoiling the Gauls' lives by playing with a worthless title deed. Here the authors are dealing with eternal values as they continue to create the Asterix legend. The characters are universal. They are us, but better, much better. They are unattractive, and yet at the same time they are inaccessible myths.

Why give away a title deed of a village that doesn't even have a name? For lack of defeating Gauls full of magic potion on a battlefield, it seems that Caesar is launching into a symbolic war that aims to annexe Asterix's village to the Roman Empire, at least on an administrative level.

Another battle, political this time, is the election campaign between Vitalstatistix and Orthopaedix. It enables the authors to react in their own way to another confrontation, which sets Mitterrand and Giscard (French presidents) by the ears. They both end up in turn winning the magic cup.

One of General de Gaulle's ministers once told Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny that, during a Cabinet meeting, the General gave each of his ministers the name of a character from the Gaulish village!
